3rd August 2018 - WOW! This has to be our favourite event so far. Arrived on the Thursday evening to set up, and made sure we booked via Air B&B this time instead of two days in a tent and it was amazing! Woke up nice and early to ensure we were ready for the first customers at 9am. Selling hot drinks and soft drinks all morning, and by lunch time we had queues of customers waiting to order food.
We added some additional items to our menu this time including Nachos with Pulled Pork, Guacamole, Sour Cream and Salsa, as well as Pulled Pork wraps. They want down a storm, and during the peak of lunchtime we had for orders, coffee and nachos flying everywhere! Really exciting and rewarding being so busy and adding a little pressure into the mix. All we could do was work on each order at a time, and try to ignore the queue building. So much fun, and we realised at bigger events how important it is to prep prep prep!
That evening we had a helping hand with two friends who came down from Bath and London to spend the remainder of the weekend with us. So we booked a tepee near to Taunton for the evening. Went out for some food, and a well deserved glass of wine and back to the tent for an early night before the adventures the following day. We woke up early and headed back to set up for our second day of trading, and our friends completed another food shop for us, and arrived afterwards. Learning from the following day made us re-evaluate, and decided to prep around 60 wraps to make sure we could reduce queues forming and prevent customers from waiting too long. Our friends helped prep the wraps whilst we took orders and made the food. This worked really well, and had been amazing to have some brilliant friends on hand to support us on our adventure!
The weather had been beautiful the whole weekend, which made the whole experience that much better, the grounds were stunning and full to the brim with flowers, stalls and entertainment. Ice coffee's and Ice Cold drinks stole the show as we had lots of customers try to find some shade from the sun. We met some lovely caterers over the two day event, especially our pitch neighbours, The Split Screen Ice Cream Company http://www.splitscreenicecream.com/
Loved every second, learnt a lot and really hope to do it all again next year!
