Rise and Grind Polzeath Beer and Music Festival 2018

29th July 2018; Here we go again! This time heading all the way to Polzeath! This was the furthest event so far, and once into Cornwall some pretty narrow roads to contend with. I am getting pretty confident towing the van around now, and we know how far to push the van, this had been a bit of a crazy journey but nothing our little Rise and Grind couldn't handle.

The weather had been set to be pretty windy and rainy - and we had tried to prepare for this. We set the van up within time, and were able to tie everything down including the menu's to ensure they didn't blow away ! We met a lovely team from #elseafishery who were working next to us, and provided us with gorgeous salt and pepper squid (Which I could literally live on forever!) In exchange for coffees, which we thought was a pretty good swap!

The weather did bring some challenges but overall the Saturday had been a pretty nice and chilled day. So many alcohol vans to chose from including Pimms, Prosecco, Champagne, Gin Cocktails, various Ales and Ciders and local Cornish beer. Stuck to the coffee during the day, and had a cheeky drink or two in the evening.

The evening event had lots of different local bands, and so much talent. It had been great to be able to be part of the event, working and being able to watch bands. Such a good atmosphere and each evening had been full of people dancing away and enjoying many of our fresh home-made wraps. The Pastrami and Sauerkraut Beetroot wraps went down a storm....But we did come to a decision we needed to add something new to the menu, something warm that will satisfy our customers slightly drunken bellys! Back to the drawing board, but overall our food had been well received, and we got some lovely feedback which is always well received!

The Saturday night had been a bit more adventurous that the first with the crazy weather getting a little more crazy, Gail force winds and rain resulted us being very wet and cold with minimal sleep and frozen fingers. At one point around 3 am we looked out to find stall canopy's up in the air with various members of the team trying to hold it down! After a long day of work, we needed sleep....But on this occasion, we just agreed it wasn't going to happen. We used the facilities the following day before the next shift, and that warm shower had been a life saver! Fresh for our last day, and we really did enjoy being there and meeting so many lovely people!
