Sisters who set out on a mission in 2017, to start building our coffee shop dreams, which started with the purchase of our beautiful 1960's Thomson T-line caravan, which was lovingly converted into a mobile coffee shop; This came the birth of Rise and Grind!

We've spent five years travelling around the UK to events, festivals and weddings. Obtaining all the essential experience and perseverance needed to take the next steps, in finding our flagship coffee shop.

Now, in 2022. Those stepping stones built the foundation to renovate our little boathouse on the barbican. The location fitted our vision, and is in our hometown of Plymouth. We spent twelve months renovating, have been open since May 2022 and are still learning and growing. We are excited to meet all of our new customers and see where the next twelve months take us.  Here's to RISE AND GRIND 2.0.

Sophie's story

"I'd always been interested in business from a young age, always had goals set to work towards and achieve my dream of being in business, it's something that drives me to get up each day (Even if my brain is constantly overloaded with new ideas and plans)!

I've always wanted to own a business of my own but knowing how hard it is for businesses in their first few years, looked at alternative ways of getting our foot on the ladder. After visits to City's such as London I could see the Street Food trend growing and knew this would be our gap in the market, and something relatively new to Plymouth. We used our Rise and Grind Thompson T-line mobile coffee shop to learn more before opening a coffee shop.

This has been an exciting venture for us both, and has not come without it's challenges, but I couldn't think of anyone better to be working with and being able to share this experience together. We are so excited for the future of Rise & Grind, and as we embark on the opening of our very first coffee and cocktail bar, I feel very content in the journey. With hard work, you can make it happen. "

Molly's
story

"I am extremely excited about working with my sister in our own independent business.

I love coffee and I am passionate about baking so figured why not work for myself doing something I love!

We have been working so hard on our menu choices, suppliers, prices and ensuring we offer something a bit different from what Plymouth currently has to offer. I bake for fun, and experimenting with different styles and ingredients has been so fun. I want to make sure people taste our cakes and remember our name for the quality of food we produce, and service we give. Our focus is on yummy foods as much as healthy alternatives.

I am very creative and have worked in this industry for years and feel I have gained so much experience from working in the hospitality industry. I am ready for this challenge and can't wait to meet and build our customer relationships. We both have different strengths and feel this partnership will provide the ying and yang needed for a business to work.

We wanted the branding to be unique and I am so happy with our vision so far. I really hope our customers love it just as much as we do."
